Our mission is to build a running and social community that is inclusive, accessible, and supportive. We believe running is not just about performance, but about connection, encouragement, and belonging. By offering both in-person and online spaces, we create opportunities for people of all paces, backgrounds, and abilities to come together, share the journey, and grow stronger, on and off the run.
What to Expect at Mind and Miles Run Club
Joining a new run club can feel a bit daunting, so here’s everything you need to know before you come along.
We meet at the bike shelter next to the electric car charging points at the Fords Road entrance to Saughton Park. Please aim to arrive a few minutes early so we can start together. There’s no need to register in advance: just turn up, or join online via Strava or Facebook if you can’t make it in person.
Every session begins with a group warm up led by me (Sara). This usually includes dynamic stretches, mobility, and a few drills to get your body moving. Don’t worry if you’re new to running, everything can be adapted.
Mondays are our easy, social runs of around 5km, with options to go longer if you’d like. Thursdays are more structured workouts — things like intervals, efforts, or lamppost-based sessions that keep things inclusive. All of our sessions are effort-based, not pace-based, so you’ll never be too slow or too fast.
We finish every session with a group cool down and stretch. This is a chance to chat, check in, and celebrate the effort together.
Community and inclusivity are at the heart of Mind and Miles. All paces and abilities are welcome, and you’ll never be left behind , we regroup regularly and support each other throughout. We do share the park with other run clubs, so please respect other park users and keep left where possible to make sure everyone has a positive experience.
If you can’t make it in person, there’s still an online option. You can do the session in your own time, share your run on our Strava group or Facebook page, and stay connected with the community no matter where you are.
There’s nothing special you need to bring: just comfortable running kit (layers are always a good idea in Scotland!), a bottle of water if you like, and most importantly, yourself, exactly as you are.
